Before we contemplate the steps on how to write ethnography, let us initially deliberate and comprehend the meaning of the term. What is ethnography?

By definition, ethnography is a branch of cultural anthropology, which follows as systematic approach of learning the life of ethnic group of inhabitants, their culture and beliefs and their community where they live. A person who studies ethnography is called an ethnographer.

As an ethnographer, you have to interrelate with these people in order to scrutinize and obtain the necessary information you need from them. Furthermore, you have to reside with them in order to be aware of their culture and find out their ways to stay alive. All the information you have collected will be compiled for your thesis.

The theory should contain the crucial information about the ethnic groups such as: their rituals, social gatherings, activities and celebrations.

There are many ways of writing ethnography. Some researchers preferred the interpretative method while other ethnographers favor the descriptive approach. Either ways are accepted though.

Here are some useful tips on how to write ethnography:

1.    Select the ethnic group or community you would like to be the main subjects of your thesis.
2.    Be sure to conceive appropriate questionnaires utilize in gathering information for your project report.
3.    Ask assistance from an authorized person of the community. He/she will make the job easier for you to get done.
4.    After gathering the significant information for you research, you can proceed to the actual writing process.
5.    Construct the preface. It should be the first page of your research. The introduction depends on the main subject of the thesis and it should be consistent.
6.    Write the methodology of your investigation. This should include the: how, when, where and who. As the term implies, it should elaborate the systematic approach used in the study.
7.    Create the analytical pages. This is considered the most important part in ethnography, wherein one needs to make a thorough analysis about the entire thesis.
8.    Make the conclusion. This is the final pace of your thesis where you summarize everything you got on your research.

Ethnography plays an imperative role in every success of the social scientists. Furthermore, their thesis gives them an opportunity to comprehend and appreciate the inimitable culture of different tribal group of individuals.
