How To Write An Essay

Submitted by MeKnows on 08/06/2009
“Written communication allows us, through the mind’s eye, access to knowledge, sights and sounds of times long gone and of places and people only imagined.” – A very well made point about writing.    From a reader’s point of view, “through writings, we can share the visions of others, particularly the author of the written piece.” From the writer’s point of view, “through writings we may communicate to others our own words of knowledge, concerns, and inspiration.”

All of the said statements are true. Writing provides an opportunity to share, to propel outbound messages, to reach out with ideas. One very good application of this notion is writing an essay.

By definition, an essay is a short written composition. Through this brief written work, one can express brilliant ideas about a given topic or issue to be discussed. You can write an essay according your own method and perspective. You can follow any style you desire, because you have the freedom to do it your way.

However, in most many scenarios, a writer could easily come up with a high quality essay by means of following some standards. Follow the guidelines we provided for you to learn some basic principles on how to write an essay with quality.

1.    Conduct a research. Through research you can obtain more knowledge about the given topic. Make use of the available resources such as the Internet and libraries.

2.    Carefully analyze the issue. In analyzing issues, you need to consider the strengths and weakness of the statement and understand its logic.

3.    Devise your idea. You can formulate possible questions about the topic, in which you can provide answers too. This is when you spend some time meditating in order to come up with brilliant thoughts.

4.    Formulate hypothesis. Create propositions that would summarize the ideas of your subject matter.

5.    Create an outline. This is when you construct a rough draft of the essay. When you outline your essay, use one sentence to illustrate one paragraph. Same way when you create a summary of paragraph.

6.    Construct an introduction. Introductions should catch the reader’s attention. You need to set up arguments that lead to your theories.

7.    Assemble the paragraphs. Each paragraph should be consistent with your theories. Paragraph outline: starts with a topic sentence, supports assertions with evidences, expound ideas the clearest way possible and should be talking to the readers.

8.    Make you conclusion. This is when you use the wrap-up sentence. It should be quick, yet leaves some memorable thoughts to the reader. You can use quotations or any interested arguments and logic.
9.    Include citations. Always remember that borrowed ideas should be cited within the context of your essay. Sources details should also be included.

10.    Fix your language. This is where proofreading takes place. Spot the errors and apply necessary corrections.

Review the final output and there you go. You now have your very own essay.
