How to treat a wasp sting

After receiving a wasp sting, try to remove the sting as soon as possible. The stinger contains venom which will cause severe pain and swelling. Stinger removal kits are available from most pharmacies. It is worth considering buying one and keeping it in your first aid kit, the sting removal pump fits over the area and sucks out the sting.

the next step is to treat the area with alcohol, we do this to kill any germs that may have been transfered by the wasp. Swelling can be easily treated by appling ice if you consistently apply ice, you should see the swelling come under control quite rapidly.

The above will only be effective if there are no additional effects felt aside from the affected area. If there are any indications of rashes or difficulty in breathing, seek emergency medical attention immediately. Some people can suffer an allergic reaction to the wasp sting and this could be fatal.

It is improtant that a wasp sting is treated quickly. Any additional symptoms aside from pain and swelling in the affected area should have urgent medical attention.
