 Hornets look for a peaceful area to build their colony; the place must be free from any disturbances. And the common place where they usually build their nest is in your backyard or even in the outside ceiling of your home. Now, that is a great threat to the safety and well-being of your family and visitors, even you. So, take necessary actions to get rid of them as early as possible because in another 15 days, another batch of worker hornets will be emerging. Therefore, their number will be doubled in a month. If you have children playing in your backyard, you just cannot sleep and rest while the hornets fly all over the place. And since these insects are sensitive enough, any movements near their nest, they will consider them as threats. Therefore, they will immediately attack anything or anyone around just to protect their colony. Amazing isn’t it?

Now, the most disturbing fact is that, they can cause death if a person is high allergic to bee stings. So having them around can really put your life as well as your family in jeopardy. Therefore, it is necessary to have your own kit for treating a hornet sting in case there will be sting incidents. What you need are the following:

• Tea tree and lavender essential oil
• Soap, milder ones are better
• Creams with vitamin E
• Antihistamine, analgesic and Neosporin
• Ice and washcloth

Step 1

You can brush your finger gently around the stung area to check if the hornet has left the sting underneath the skin. Taking off the sting is like taking away a splinter, so you can simply pinch the area and use tweezers to pull the sting off. 

Step 2

Wash the area clean using a clean tap water and a mild soap. Putting a washcloth with ice can help prevent the swelling on the skin.   

Step 3

To ease the pain, you can apply antihistamine or analgesic. Lavender essential oil is also helpful when mixed with the cream with vitamin E; they can further prevent swelling and alleviate the pain of the sting.

Step 4

However, if a person is prone to have anaphylactic body reactions to stings, an epinephrine should be injected to fight off the effects of the venom in the system. If not done immediately, the sting may just cost the life of the person. 

Step 5

To be sure, you need to let the stung area and treat with essential oils and antihistamine and bring the person to the nearest hospital. It is oftentimes advisable to be sure.
