How To Play Dominoes

Submitted by MeKnows on 08/07/2009
Domino is a very easy game derived from dice. The tiles represent six sides of the dice only that it has number zero. There are a lot of domino games and only a few really know how to play it well; it also involves strategies in every play. Here are some simple steps on how to play dominoes well:

Step 1
You must know what kind of domino game you are playing. So long as you are playing outside the casino, there are only four types of dominoes:
•    Blocking games—it is played matching the dots in a line and the score of the winner is by counting the un-played tiles of the enemy.
•    Bidding games—it is played like you are playing cards.
•    Scoring games—it is like the blocking games only that a players score every time he can match a tile.
•    Round games—it can be played by many players and the game will end when all the tiles or dominoes has been laid off.

Step 2
Before starting off a play, you must know the rules. There are other games which you can draw a tile if you don’t have a playable one. Others will require you to draw just a single tile while other games will really make you pass a turn or more depending on your tiles.

Step 3
Observe how the dominoes are distributed in a game. The standard set is the double-six dominoes which are composed of 28 tiles. There are so many ways to match the number zero tiles. You must also note that the four and six combination is always the same as six and four combination.

Step 4
While playing, take into consideration every move done by your opponent. If he draws a tile from the bone yard and plays it the moment he has drawn the means that he doesn’t have anymore tiles to be played. Therefore, you must note what number in the tiles he cannot play.

Step 5
Learn how to block every move of your opponent. You can place a tile which ends with the same number considering that you can make a move when you do that. By doing so, you will have a greater possibility of playing down into one domino.

Step 6
Learn how to own your domino. The best time to lay off your last piece of tiles is when you can let them down in one turn. That’s why it is important to be modest in all your moves while the play is still progressing so that you can select tiles which can connect with another.
