Checkers has been a popular game for many centuries. The new generation is not well acquainted with the game that’s why it is becoming slowly obsolete. However, the strategies in the game are worth playing for. And so others still find the game more interesting than other board games. To learn how to play checkers, check out the steps below to be guided accordingly:Step 1There are only two color involved in checkers; the black and the red. To determine who will choose which color to pick, you can toss a coin. The winner will pick the color but whoever gets the red, he will be the first one to move.Step 2A player who got the red checker should put one in every black square starting in the first three rows.Step 3On the other hand, the player who’s got the black checker should put a checker to every black square in the first three rows.Step 4There must be 12 checkers on every side of the checker board leaving two rows in the middle empty.Step 5The player with red checker will start the game by pushing a red checker diagonally to any adjacent black squares which are not occupied yet.Step 6Each player should take turn pushing their respective checkers one at a time.Step 7If you can come into situation when your checker is faced directly opposite to the opponent’s checker with one free space on the other side of your opponent’s checker, you can capture it by simply jumping over it and putting your checker onto the free space at the other side while taking the captured piece from the board.Step 8If you have jumped to the space where there is another opportunity of capture, you can still jump over the other checker of the opponent in the same turn. There are double or even triple captures in one turn. So don’t be surprised if your enemy can do the same to you.Step 9When one of your checkers reaches the farthest row in the board, you will have that checker promoted to be “King” which can run the whole diagonal line in one turn plus it can now move backwards.Step 10The first player to eliminate all the checkers of the opponents or even block his pieces to hinder them from moving will declared winner.
