How To Open An .ISO File

Submitted by Paul on 10/26/2009
There are lots of file types that lots of people have problems opening. The .iso file type is such a file. Not everyone knows that these types of files are just another type of compression a little like a zipped file. Here are some simple steps on how to open .iso file.

Step 1
You must understand what .iso files are—these are typically known as iso images which are archived to have an extension of .iso. These images are derived from the CDs and can be burned to other CDs.

Step 2
One of the most popular and most used applications for compressed files is the WinRar. So be sure to have a copy of the installer of the program and set it up into your computer.

Step 3
After the setup you will be prompted to choose the files you want to associate with WinRar; to be safe, you can choose all. That includes .iso files to be associated in WinRar.

Step 4
When you have associated the files into your new program, you will notice that the icons of the .iso files are changed into the icon of the WinRar. It means that you can now open the .iso files by double-clicking on them.

Step 5
Opening the .iso files using WinRar is not enough, you must extract the files inside the compressed file to be able to use or modify them. Choose the directory where you want the files to be extracted.

Step 6
You can also burn the image into the CD so that you can open the files using the CD where the .iso files are burned. You’re done!
