How to Open a Torrent File

Torrents act as bookmark to a specific file stored in the hard drives of potentially millions of users around the world. When the torrent file is opened, it will automatically start to download the file pointed out by the torrent. These torrent files are great way to download videos, music, pictures, applications or anything at all. For you to be able to know how to open a torrent file, follow the steps below;

Step 1
One of the most reliable programs used to open torrents is the bittorent which can be downloaded from http://www.bittorent.com. It is free, therefore anyone can easily download it and use for their benefits. Although, there are other programs which are built to serve such purpose, bittorrent is the most renowned name when it comes to opening torrent files. So, go to the homepage and download the program. It won’t take 10 minutes. After which install the program and you’re good to go.

Step 2
Sometimes torrents come with spyware or malware that could harm your computer. So, it would be a good decision to install antivirus and anti-spyware programs to protect your computer from any attacks. You can download free software.

Step 3
After everything is set in your computer, run a search query using Google or any other search engines for a torrent which contains the location of the files you want to download. Usually, one file has one torrent file. So you better search for the name of the file then just add the word “torrent” in your search.

Step 4
It is advisable you will take into consideration the format of the torrent file you are downloading. Often, you can download torrents which are compressed; so you will have either .zip or .rar extensions. Other torrent files can also be in .shn and .flac extensions. Just do a little research and you will know how to open these file extensions to have access to the torrent file inside.

Step 5
Check the popularity of the file you are downloading. At times, you will really have to have  patience due to the speed of the download. It is because, unpopular files are rarely hosted and such they can be slow to download. Most popular files are often well seeded but there are so many lechers, or someone who downloads but not shares.

Step 6
When you were able to find the torrent file, just look for a download link to begin the download. The computer will then ask you to select the kind of application to be used; select bittorrent. Once you reach the 100% status, it means that you are done downloading the torrent. Scan with your virus scanner and open the file.
