Submitted by MeKnows on 08/07/2009
In the past, hot toddy has been used to relieve the symptoms of sore throats. Others drink them to have improved sleep at night or any time during the day. Some people just enjoy drinking it at the social occasion especially during winter. Hot toddy is a hot beverage which can be made out of your favorite brandy or whiskey. Aside from that it is also a widely thought to be an effective cure and prevention to common colds and the flu. To learn how to make a hot toddy, follow simple steps below:

Step 1
You need these ingredients: hot water, kettle or a microwave oven, lemon fruits or lemon juice, honey, tea bags and your favorite brandy or whiskey. Be sure to have ample amount of each ingredient prior to mixing them.

Step 2
You need to boil the water using the kettle or you can simply put water in the mug and heat it using the microwave oven. It depends on your needs; if you are going to have more rounds of drinks then you must boil plenty of water in a kettle. Otherwise, a mug of water inside the microwave oven will suffice. You may also want to soak the tea bags to extract the juice.

Step 3
Get a separate mug to pour your honey in. You don’t need to pour plenty of honey, just coat the bottom of the mug with it. Measure a jigger of brandy or whiskey and pour it into the separate mug with honey followed by the lemon juice. Taste it a little to suit your likings.

Step 4
Now, pour the extract of the tea bags you soak earlier into the mixture of liquor, honey and lemon juice. Stir the new mixture not so vigorously until every ingredient is dissolved evenly. Embellish the glass with a slice of lemon then serve.

Step 5
In cases like you will have to make the mixture stronger, you can increase the amount of the brandy or whiskey as well as the honey and lemon juice. Remember, the taste of the hot toddy depends on the taste of the person who makes the mixture. So if there are meticulous friends, you may ask them to mix their own mixture to suit their taste.
