How to make a bunny rabbit cake:

Making a shaped cake is always fun, perhaps it's for a child's birthday, or as part of the Easter celebrations, whilst the results look professional, it's not actually very difficult, here's how to do it:

Ingredients:- Sponge cake mix suitable for 2 standard 9inch cakes tins

-1 packet of icing/frosting

- 1 packet of desiccated coconut

- A variety of sweets/candy for making the whiskers, eyes and decoration of the bowtie

You will need 2 x 9inch cake tins, a sharp knife (always ensure suitable adult supervision),a tray to prepare and serve the finished cake on, pencil and paper to draw a template for the ears and bowtie, scissors, and a round knife for spreading the icing/frosting

1. Use the instructions included in the cake mix to create 2 identical sponge cakes, you can add flavoring as you wish

2. Allow the cakes to fully cool

3. You will be using the first cake for the bunny rabbit's face, so place it in the centre of the tray

4. Draw a pair of bunny rabbit ears and a bow tie onto the paper, ensuring they will all fit within the second cake

5. Cut out the ears and bowtie template, and place them into the second cake

6. Carefully cut around the template using a sharp knife, ensure adult supervision for this

7, carefully position the ears and bowtie onto the bunny rabbits face (the first whole cake), use some of the icing/frosting to join them to the face

8. Now cover the entire visible cake with the rest of the icing/frosting, use the rounded knife to spread it evenly

9. Sprinkle the coconut all over the cake, this will help give the texture of the bunny rabbits fur

10. Use the sweets/candy to give your bunny rabbit cake some eyes, a mouth, a nose and some whiskers11. Use the remainder of the sweets/candy to decorate the bunny rabbit's bowtieThis shouldn't take too long and is fun to do with your kids!
