How To Grow Sugar Crystals

Submitted by MeKnows on 08/07/2009

Crystal is composed of molecules, ions and atoms which are properly ordered to form a transparent internal structure. There are three most common types of crystals which are often used for experiments or you can do grow the at home; Alum Crystals, Salt Crystals and Sugar Crystals.

Growing Sugar Crystals
Step 1
Dissolve 3 cups of sugar, preferably white, into a cup of hot water. Keep stirring until no sugar particles can be seen except for a sticky sugar solution. You may add food coloring to give a color you want.
Step 2
Transfer the solution into a clean jar with smooth surface. Be sure that there are no sugar particles in the jar as you will be using it to grow your crystal.
Step 3
Put a wooden handle or a rough line for you to hold once you want to pull out the crystal from the jar.
Step 4
Put the jar in the place where it will not be disturbed.
