How To Get The Best Out Of Your Shampoo

Submitted by Calum Macleod on 03/15/2011

It's not a simple cut and dried process choosing the right hair products for your barnet. There is such a wide range of products available and there are so many hair types to have to deal with. Here is a list of some shampoo and conditioner types to choose depending on your hair type. For dry or damaged hair it is recommended that you avoid shampoos which are clear in appearance as they will be too harsh for your hair and strip it of essential moisture. If you find that your hair is really dry and damaged an intensive moisturising treatment could replace some of the lost moisture.

For processed hair it is suggested that you use normal shampoo to cleanse the hair first and to follow that with an intensive conditioner on the middle to tip points of the hair. If you condition the entire scalp you will find that the roots of your hair will become overwhelmed and end up greasy. Professionals in the hair industry say that you don't need to wash your hair every day. It will only end up stripping your hair of essential oils that it needs to remain healthy and strong. While washing your hair it is best to use only a small amount such as the size of a fifty pence piece. A lot of lather can be an indication that you have used too much.

To get the best out of your shampoo gently massage your scalp using the soft pads of your fingers and work from the back to front. When you have done that for long enough you can then rinse off the product. You do not have to rinse your hair until it is 'squeaky' clean but until all the product is gone. Then apply your conditioner to the mid lengths of your hair. You can also give your hair a spray of cool water to finish and smooth the cuticles and enhance shine. It is important to remember that by choosing the best hair care products you will get better results for your hair.
