Bees are social insects, so you cannot expect a bee in one place. Usually, they have their hive which may house more than a hundred bees. Their stings will result in swelling and of course pain which could last for a week. During the autumn season, there is a higher chance of getting bee stings since the flowers start to fall leaving them nothing to eat. Therefore, it’s import to ensure they are not nesting you’re your house especially when you have little children running around and playing. It’s often possible to contact local bee keepers who often offer free hive removal, if you are unable to find a suitable keeper, you can also call the local authorities or a professional pest controller. If you wish to remove the bees yourself, do so at your own risk, but as a guide you may follow the steps below to get rid of bees effectively:
Step 1 Find the spot where most of them thrive. In the same spot, you will find their hive.
Step 2 Get yourself an insecticide or anything used to poison insects. It is better to have the spray-type of insecticide to make it easier for you to apply. Together with it, you must also secure thick protective suit, mask and nose covering, goggles will also be helpful to protect your eyes.
Step 3 Spray the insecticide at night to make sure that the bees are resting inside their hive, you need to be very quiet in doing so as they have the instinct to sting anything that looks a threat.
Step 4 Be sure to spray the insecticide with your nose covered. You must also check that you have sprayed all the sides of the beehive to eliminate them all. Of course, you cannot expect to kill them all with a single spray. If you have a liquid kind of insecticide, be sure to apply it to the hive and have it well covered.
Step 5 Once you are done with the spraying or applying the insecticide or poison, start a small smoky fire underneath the hive. Smoke irritates the bees and will ensure remaining bees leave the area.
Step 6 Take time to create a smoke on the spot where the bees live so that they will not come back.
Step 7 You can take out their hive and burn it. If you cannot do it, it’s best to call in a professional to remove it for you.
Step 8 Hanging some mothball will also repel bees. So, it is worth considering in areas where you have repeat nesting.
If in doubt always call for professional certified help.
