One of the most important things after Bariatric surgery is to find a support group that you can attend. Some hospitals or surgical facilities have in-house support groups and other may direct you to a local independent support group. One of the most frequently asked questions that we hear is, “Do you know if there is a support group in my area?” Sadly, there are hundreds and even thousands of patients who do not know where their local support group is located. In a recent survey administered by Bariatric Support Centers International, we found that over 65 percent of respondents thought that support groups were important or essential to their success as a weight loss surgery patient. So how can you find out if there is a support group located near you? Bariatric Support Centers maintains one of the nations largest support group registries. There are over 550 support groups listed on the registry from California to Maine. As we strive to maintain the most accurate and up to date support group list we invite all support group leaders to list their support groups on our registry. So if you have a support group that needs to be added to our nationwide support group list please let us know.
