How To Cut Up T-shirts

Submitted by Ellie L on 06/24/2009
Cutting up your t-shirts has become the latest street fashion statement. You need to be very carefull though, if you get it wrong you could end up looking like an extra for a bad 1980's pop video. There are plenty of people offering cut up t-shirts to buy, but they are quite expensive for what is at the end of the day a $10 attacked with some scissors, so grab the few items you need and have a go yourself.

You will need a few basic items:

Chalk (not the same colour as your t-shirt)
Good quality scissors
T-shirt

1. Ensure your t-shirt is washed and dry, this will make sure it is pre shrunk

2. Put the t-shirt on, and carefully using the chalk mark out the cuts you want to make, it might be an idea to enlist the help of a friend yo help you do this part as you might not be able to reach all the areas.

3. Remove the t-shirt and using the scissors simply cut carefully along your chalk lines.

4. Now try it on and then repeat the process until you have the look you are going for.

5. Making cuts to the sleeves and neckline will make the most profound style changes, so do these areas with care.
