The wedding entertainment is not normally the first or most important item to tick off in your list of wedding preparations. It is one of the things that you will need to get sorted sooner or later though. Sooner is always better especially if you have your heart set on a particular band.
If you are going for a traditional Scottish wedding a ceilidh band is a great option. There;s nothing like a ceilidh band to get everyone in the mood for a party. Ceilidh dancing is great fun even if you don't know what you're doing. A lot of bands will take into account the people who have never been to a ceilidh and will talk the guests through the dances before hand.
Some couples just want to dance to songs they can sing along to. If that's the case for you there's a few choices available to you. A DJ is a popular option. The pros being that you can have any music you want. You could even create a playlist of what you want to hear and hand it over to the DJ before the night. A word of warning if you do go down this route though. Try not to just pick your favourite songs. Pick a few of course but bare in mind that you will have old and young at your reception and you want everyone to have a good time.
If you are looking to book a ceilidh band you should expect to pay between £300 and £1500. You can save on costs in some cases by asking for less band members to perform. A three piece will cost less than a six piece band. A deposit may be required depending on the band.
For your first dance you will want to pick a song that has a special meaning for you or fits the occasion. If you are wanting one of your favourite songs played you'll need to factor that in to your plans. If you have a DJ booked then it will be simple enough but otherwise you may need to check if the band knows how to play it or make other arrangements. It is also worth investigating whether or not the band is familiar with the wedding venue you have planned as it can make things run a bit smoother.
