Homes to rent can be found my looking in newspapers, online classifieds, store bulletin boards, real estate agents or by searching Google for local results, such as "Homes for Rent in Lakenheath Suffolk". When making your decision on which home to rent many factors should be considered. The list below highlights some of the things you may want to keep in mind when deciding what is the most important to you.

Location of property – Is it convenient to get to work or college? How long are you willing to spend travelling each day? Are their periods of the day when heavy traffic will add time to your journey home? What types of public transport are available? What is the crime rate in the neighbourhood?

Schools – If you have children, is the properly in a good school district? Will school buses travel to the neighbourhood or will you have to drive your children to school daily?

Amenities – What kind of things are there to do for recreation? Are their any shops nearby or a place to buy groceries? Is there a local doctors office?

Outside of Home – Does the home appear clean and well-kept? Is there sufficient lighting? Is there ample parking space? Do the doors have security locks? Is there a fenced in yard for children or pets? Is there a garage or storage shed?

Inside of Home – Are the rooms of a good size for your needs? Are there ample bathrooms for the size of your family? Will your furniture fit inside? Are there appliances for use or will you need to buy your own? What type of heating system is used and what are the estimated fuel and energy costs? Do the walls and carpeting appear well-kept? Are the walls sound proof?

Pets – If you have pets will they be allowed? Is there enough space if you have large animals? Will there be any additional charges for animals?

Cost – Can you afford the rent? How much can you expect to pay for unities? Are there any extra maintenance charges? How much is the deposit? How long is the lease?

End of lease/contact – How much notice must you give before moving out? Can you rent the house to other people? What is the fee if you need to end the lease early?
