How To Buy Flattering Clothes

Submitted by Ellie L on 02/21/2009
It's important to realise that everyone is built differently and as such it is possible to select clothes that highlight your favourite points whilst hiding aspects of your phyisique you are not so keen on. The easy way to do this is to simply have your clothes custom tailored to your body, but this is very expensive and certainly out of reach of most people.

So, for those that need to buy flattering clothes of the peg the trick is to remove focus from the area's you are less keen to be noticed, for example:

If you have a wide waist, you should avoid anything that highlights that area, skin tight clothes, belts, and striped clothes are all a no no. If your body shape is more straight and you feel you lack the curves you would like, then you need to create an illusion, by using a belt, or perhaps wearing a flowing skirt or dress, something that naturally looks more curvey.

If your body is somewhat top heavy and makes you look out of proportion, avoid plunging V neck tops, and instead go for higher neck tops, you should also avoid tops with shoulder pads that would further add to the perception of bulk!

If you are very petite, the simpliest solution would be to wear high heels, but this doesn't also mean stilettos, there are plenty of high heeled shoes that are much more practical for everyday use. You should also consider pin stripped outfits.

Many Women are quite heavy in the thigh area, it's important to recognise that skirts will more often than not, add to the problem, if you can, try trousers, even with flared bottoms, just make sure you don't go mad!
