When buying a new mattress it's important to choose the best option for your needs. There is a huge array of styles and support systems and fillings available:

These mattresses are fully breathable to you won't get too host. This type of mattress tends to be quite expensive, but lasts a long time, so overall value for money is usually excellent.

Visco-elastic mattress: Like the latex mattresses the visco-elastic mattress contains no springs and uses your own body heat to mould the mattress around the contours of your body. The way it works is said to relieve pressure points and promote good circulation, it also has hypo-allergenic properties.

Open coil mattress: This is the most common traditional spring style mattress, it’s very common and uses a system of linked springs to spread weight across the mattress. These usually have a strong rod around the border to help keep the mattress in shape.

Pocket spring mattress: Using a system of small springs located in individual pocks to they can cope with couples of different weights.

It's also important to consider the type of bed you currently own. Some divan style beds have specially sprung bases that contribute to the overall comfort of the bed and should be replaced along with the mattress. Higher quality mattresses are usually made from knitted viscose, or cotton rather than the cheaper man made polyester.
